Just when I thought we were getting our act together…
Lots of changes around the Mathews household. And although they are definitely some big changes and kind of threw us for a loop, there is a lot of good to be found in it as well.
Not only am I putting together my own music to get out and perform, I am on the hunt for a career that will satisfy my music craving. I’ve been thinking ever since Brad started at T&R that he has really found a path he is great at that he is excited to work hard at every day. So I’ve been taking meetings and making calls and just putting the worm out there to see if I get any bites.
Let me know if you know someone *wink wink*
Also, I was in a bad mood last week for a good reason. The short story is that Brad is now leaving T&R. And now we are reevaluating our situation and he is getting together all of his options for the next step. I’m excited for him. He has been hustling and applying and has gotten a lot of great feedback. I’m not worried at all. He is incredible driven and talented, and could have six new jobs lined up by tomorrow if he wanted.
I mean, he basically already does. It’s crazy. I love that man.
But I’m also not worried because Sunday, Brad returned home from an interview with beautiful packages of meat from our favorite West Hollywood butchers, Lindy & Grundy.
Over the last couple of months, we haven’t been in our kitchen often. Usually our days off are spent exhausted, waiting for calls from work, taking a nap and going out to eat because we can’t bear to do dishes.
Not this day off.
A pork rilette snack to tide me over, and then Brad was off to the races.
With this amazing meal, I knew it was the right choice for Brad to leave T&R. Maybe for selfish reasons, because I really really love when he cooks for me, but also because it just wasn’t working for Brad or for our family.
Sometimes big changes happen to wake you up to another opportunity. And, as we’ve been told so many times over this last week, everything happens for a reason.
Can’t wait to see what this reason turns out to be. And until then, I have a pork shank on order from one of my favorite farmers at the market. The pigs were slaughtered today and we will have the meat on Saturday morning.
Looking forward to that meal.
