TBDB

Yesterday was the most amazing Farmer’s Market Wednesday of all Farmer’s Market Wednesdays.

I mean, all of this great produce had a lot to do with it.

I walked around with the Pintxo guys as usual.

I documented their chef-flirting and produce bargaining adventures in exchange for a cart to put my heavy bag on once I’d bought more than I could handle.

I found Emu Eggs for sale.

I did not buy an Emu Egg…

Then I walked around a bit with my Kitchen Manager from R+D and brainstormed ideas for the next few weeks of Mixology.  (Rhubard?  Cucumber?  Jalapeño? Strawberry?)  Seems like Mixology Monday is back on schedule and will feature some really delicious – and all Farmer’s Market friendly – cocktails coming up soon.

Speaking of my cocktail creations, have you checked out my guest post that was on Super NoVa Mom‘s blog yesterday?  If you like berries at all and tend to put them on everything like I do, you’ll want to check this out.  Blackberry Compote.  Berry Martinis.  Berry Yogurt.  Berry Pudding.  Berry Soda.  Berry Brownies.

I seriously put the stuff on anything I could find.  So. Delicious.

So Brad and I made out like bandits this week with cauliflower, broccolini, cherry tomatoes, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, rhubarb, sunflowers, dates, peas, cucumbers, potatoes, carrots, and eggs (not Emu eggs…).

(Oh and yes, I take pictures of my refrigerator.  I know I’m weird.  But it looks so good.  I can’t help it.)

Somehow we ended up at Umami Burger today for lunch instead of making one of his “Farmer’s Market Salads”, but he made up for it when he whipped this up instead for dinner.

Homemade Gnocchi with Broccolini, Peas, and Sausage.

“Little clouds of heaven” he called them.

I couldn’t stop taking pictures.

Sigh.  I am such a lucky woman.

So if all of that didn’t already make this the best Farmer’s Market Wednesday EVER, this will…

The BIGGEST reason it was the best Farmer’s Market Wednesday ever was this little guy who I got a picture of this morning from my momma back east.

Oh hey there, new nephew!!

Born at 8:45 this morning, I became an aunt when this little guy came into the world.

My brother and sister in law waited to find out the sex until little baby Bylsma was born, so they are still finalizing his name.

But in the meantime, he has been nicknamed TBD.

I have added to the TBD nickname and changed it to TBDB (To Be Determined Bylsma) because it reminded me of CBGB.  And of course my nephew is going to be a rockstar.

So welcome to the world TBDB.  You can tell just by the pictures that you are going to be much loved and much spoiled.  Can’t wait to meet you next month!

A speedy recovery and lots of love to Jenny & Jonny.  We are so excited to be Aunt Kelly and Uncle Brad!!!

Best Wednesday Ever

xoxo
